Questions, answered plainly.

The things people actually ask, before and after they buy — in the order they usually come up.

A person checking the LifeLeaf app on their watch.

The basics

Is it really needle-free?

Yes. LifeLeaf reads from your wrist with light-based sensing. Nothing pierces the skin. Nothing to replace.

How accurate is it?

We tested it against a reference continuous glucose monitor, a fingerstick glucose meter, a validated cuff, and an arterial line at Mayo Clinic. It’s built to get the story right — whether this meal moved you more than that one. The numbers, and their limits, are on our science page.†

Is this a medical device? Can it diagnose?

No. LifeLeaf is a general wellness device. It doesn’t diagnose or treat anything, and it doesn’t replace a device your clinician prescribed.

Cost & ownership

What does it cost?

$349, including a required subscription at $9.99 a month or $99 a year. That works out to $15–25 a month over a two-to-four-year period — under a dollar a day. The device carries a 1-year warranty from delivery, subscribed or not.†

Why is the subscription required?

Because the subscription is the product. The device senses; the app turns that into three scores, a daily action, your trends and your reports — and it keeps getting better. We’d rather charge for it honestly than pretend the hardware alone does the work.

Do I own the device, or am I renting it?

You own it outright — it’s yours from the moment it ships, and the one-year warranty runs whether or not you subscribe. What needs a subscription is the app: the scores, the coaching, the reports and the modes. Stop subscribing and the device stops recording and analysing, but nothing is taken away from you and nothing is deleted.

What happens if I stop paying?

Your device stops recording and analyzing, and your scores, coaching, reports and modes pause. We never delete your data — it’s there when you come back, and you can export all of it at any time, subscribed or not.

Why is the warranty one year, when you price it over four?

Two different things. The warranty is what we’ll fix if the device is faulty — one year from delivery, and it doesn’t end if you stop subscribing. The two-to-four-year figure is how long people keep a device like this, which is how you’d work out what it costs you a month. Neither number depends on the other, and we’d rather show you both than blend them.

What’s the warranty?

One year from delivery — and it doesn’t stop if you stop subscribing. WHOOP covers your device only while your membership is active. A Dexcom Stelo carries no warranty at all.†

Buying it

When does it ship?

Kickstarter backers first: the earliest tiers from December, the main wave in February 2027. December pre‑orders ship February. Orders from January ship in 30–60 days.

Why should I trust a Kickstarter hardware project?

A fair question, and the honest answer is specifics rather than reassurance. The device exists. Four studies have been presented at international meetings and published in the journals we name. Independent clinicians in endocrinology and cardiology advise us, and we name them. Your $2 reservation is refundable at any time before launch. What Kickstarter rewards are not is purchases — and we say so on the campaign page rather than in the small print.

Where are the studies published?

Our results have been presented at ADA, ATTD, ESH and the American Heart Association, and published in Diabetes, Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics and the Journal of Hypertension. The full record — including which items are conference abstracts and which is a poster — is on our clinical evidence page.†

What if I change my mind?

Your $2 reservation is refundable any time before launch. Store orders carry a 30-day money-back guarantee from delivery. Kickstarter rewards aren’t purchases and aren’t covered by that guarantee — Kickstarter is a funding platform, not a store, and we’d rather say so now.

Waitlist & reservations

What are the deep‑discount packages?

Limited-quantity pricing tiers available only during early Kickstarter launch. Once reserved spots sell out, standard pricing applies.

Is the $2 deposit refundable?

Yes, fully refundable if you cancel before Kickstarter launches at the end of October. After launch, it’s credited to your first subscription.

What’s the difference between the waitlist and making a reservation?

Waitlist is free and keeps you updated. Reservation ($2) locks in one of our limited deep‑discount packages before standard pricing kicks in.

How many deep‑discount package spots are available?

Three packages to reserve: 500 Founding 500 places, 500 Founding 1,000 places and 100 Lifetime places. /reserve shows how many are left.

What it shows you

Do you show me a blood-pressure number?

Yes — as an hourly average, with a note on which way it’s trending. Not as a spot reading, because a single cuffless reading varies more than a cuff does. The accuracy detail is on our science page.†

Do you show me a glucose number?

We show you where you are in your range, and how much of the day you spent there. A single number without context isn’t something you can act on.

Do I need to calibrate it? Do I need a cuff or a fingerstick?

No. LifeLeaf works out of the box — no cuff, no fingerstick, no setup readings. If you already own a cuff or a meter and want to fine-tune your readings, you can. Most people never do.

Your data

What happens to my data?

Yours. Encrypted, never sold, never shared with advertisers, and deletable any time. Full details in our Consumer Health Data Privacy notice.

Is my data used to train your AI?

Only in de-identified form, and you can opt out. The full terms are in our Consumer Health Data Privacy notice.

Using it

Can I share this with my doctor?

Yes. The Reports tab builds a summary you can send. It goes where you send it, when you send it — we never send it for you.

What are modes?

LifeLeaf reads the same three signals whichever mode you’re in — but what it says about them changes. Four: Everyday, Weight Management, GLP‑1 Companion and Pregnancy — the app’s own mode names. On the website the Everyday mode is presented as Pursuing Longevity and the GLP‑1 Companion mode as On GLP‑1. Switching takes two minutes and costs nothing.

Can I use it if I’m on a prescribed therapy, or pregnant?

LifeLeaf is a general wellness device. It doesn’t replace anything your clinician prescribed, and if you use a prescribed monitor, keep using it. There’s a mode built for each situation — see On GLP‑1 and Expecting — and neither of them gives dosing advice or watches a baby.

iPhone or Android?Coming soon

Both. Details closer to launch.

How long does the battery last?

About 18 hours of active use on a charge. Plan on roughly an hour on the charger each day.
